Religious Education

Welcome to our Catechetical program!

The largest part of our program is classes for celebrating First Reconciliation, and reception of First Eucharist, as well as Confirmation class.

Pictured above is Maria Marquez our Director of Religious Education.  She depends greatly upon the volunteer religious education teachers, but works quite hard herself to keep the program running efficiently.

Our Catechetical program encompasses children in all grades - K-12, and also classes for adults.

Our Religious Education program is in English, but we also have Catechists who teach children the faith in their first language of Spanish or Creole (Haitian), if needed (this is especially for the children who do not yet speak English).

This year there are about 225 children preparing for their First Eucharist, and 150 children in Confirmation preparation.

There are 29 Catechists, some having taught for 15 years or more in the program.  We are blessed to have such dedicated and faith-filled volunteers, serving the spiritual needs of our youth.  In the program there is also a class for adults who are preparing to recieve the Sacraments of the Church, and to learn more about their faith.

Above, eighth graders form a circle in Sanders Hall for a talk during their Confirmation retreat.  Our resources are few, but we are blessed to be able to serve the spiritual needs of our young people through our Religious Education program.

There are not very many activities for young people and teens in Immokalee, outside of school, so coming to Church is actually a fun reason to get together with friends of the same age.
